Most engineers are excellent at being right. Few are persuasive.
Engineers solve problems with logic. Business buyers make decisions with emotion. When a technical pitch ignores the second half, the conversation stalls.
I spent four decades in industrial refrigeration before I ever wrote sales copy for a living. I watched brilliant technical people lose deals they should have won — not because the engineering was wrong, but because the explanation never reached the part of the buyer that actually signs.
In cybersecurity it’s the same pattern. An MSSP founder can describe MDR, SOC coverage, and threat detection with total accuracy and still watch a prospect’s eyes glaze. Accuracy isn’t the problem. Translation is.
The fix isn’t to dumb anything down. It’s to engineer the asset so the technical truth and the business stakes arrive at the same time. That’s what I do.
